Woodbury City Police Department
On April 3rd,
2008 retired Woodbury Police Chief F. Dean Kimmel passed away. Chief
Kimmel served the citizens of Woodbury for over thirty years. In 1961 he
became Chief of Police and served in that capacity until his retirement in
1987. Chief Kimmel was awarded life memberships in the International
Association of Chiefs of Police, the F.B.I. National Academy Association,
the NJ State Chiefs of Police Association, South Jersey Police Chiefs
Association and the Southeastern PA Police Chiefs Association. Chief
Kimmel was also the founder and past president of the Gloucester County
Police Chiefs Association and a member of PBA Local #122. In addition to his
distinguished police career, Chief Kimmel served in the United States Navy
for 42 years (active and reserve) and was a veteran of World War II and
Korea. Chief Kimmel was a member of American Legion Post #133 and VFW Post
#2174. The members of the Woodbury Police Department extend their heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Chief F. Dean Kimmel.
