The Detective Bureau strives to assist crime victims with restoring a feeling of safety and normalcy to their lives. Woodbury Police Detectives use modern technology, as well as old-fashioned persistence and tenacity, to process evidence, solve crimes, recover property, and arrest offenders. Together they work as a team, to seek the facts, preserve the evidence, and build a comprehensive case for court presentation. In the end, the efforts of our detectives are focused on providing exemplary customer service to our citizens and visitors.

Det. Lt. Eric Lokaj

Lieutenant Lokaj began his career with the Woodbury City Police Department in 2004 as a Cadet. He worked as a Cadet from 2004-2007. During that time he also attended Gloucester County College full time where he was able to obtain his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. In May of 2007 he was hired by the Sea Isle City Police Department as a SLEO II Officer. He attended the Cape May County Police Academy and graduated in July of 2007. He then spent three months working in Sea Isle City as part of the Quality of Life Unit, specifically focusing on problem areas in the City. In October of 2007, Lt. Lokaj returned to Woodbury City as a SLEO II Officer. He remained in that capacity until January of 2009 when he was hired as a full time patrol Officer with Woodbury City. He continued his career as a Patrol Officer until October of 2013 when he was moved to the Detective Bureau. In the Detective Bureau some if his assignments included narcotics investigations, criminal case investigations and maintaining and monitoring liquor licenses. In December of 2015 he was promoted to Sergeant and returned to the road as a patrol Sergeant supervising a squad. In December of 2016 he was moved back into the Detective Bureau as a Detective Sergeant and was promoted to Detective Lieutenant in 2023.

Det. Corporal Nick Cacciola

Det. Corporal Nick Cacciola started his Law Enforcement Career in 2012 with Deptford Township as a Class I SLEO Officer. He worked in Deptford Township as a Class I and eventually a Class II SLEO Officer, graduating from the Gloucester County Police Academy in 2013. He continued working with Deptford Township until September, 2013. Det. Corporal Cacciola was hired by the Woodbury City Police Department as a Full Time Patrolman in September of 2013. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2016 from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Master’s Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2018. In 2014, he was assigned to the Department’s Community Policing Unit. In April of 2016, Det. Corporal Cacciola was assigned to the Department’s PACE Unit (Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement) and served as the Department’s Housing Officer. Cacciola was promoted to the rank of Detective in August of 2017, and was promoted to the rank of Detective Corporal in March of 2022. Det. Corporal Cacciola also serves as the Department’s Missing Person Liaison, the Intelligence Liaison, Watch Over Woodbury Camera System Coordinator, and Woodbury City Police Association President.

Det. Corrine Byerley started her Law Enforcement Career in 2016 with the North Wildwood Police Department as a SLEO II Officer, graduating from the Cape May County Police Academy in 2016. She continued working with North Wildwood until October 2016. Det. Byerley was hired by the Woodbury City Police Department as a Full Time Patrolman in November 2016. Before Det. Byerley started her Law Enforcement Career, she served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 2015 to 2021. Det. Byerley served in the Marine Corps as an Expeditionary Fire Fighter and made it to the rank of Sergeant before she was honorably discharged in December 2021. In 2020 Det. Byerley was assigned to the Detective Bureau as an Investigator. In January 2022, Det. Byerley was promoted to the rank of Detective. Det. Byerley also serves as the Departments Missing Person and Domestic Violence Liaison Officer.
